HR – Value with data

From Data to Action

When HR data is accessible and presented in a user-friendly way, it becomes an active leadership tool. It opens up a new level of collaboration between HR and managers – where dialogue and action go hand in hand.

Data That Matters

Dashboards and tools like Power BI make it possible to give managers direct access to key data such as absence, employee turnover, recruitment, and performance reviews.

When the numbers are up to date and visual, they become a natural part of everyday work – and a concrete foundation for decision-making.

  • Managers can respond quickly to, e.g., increasing absence
  • HR can support managers with targeted sparring
  • Teamwork – from reporting to reflection

HR = Strategic Sparring Partner

When managers have access to the data themselves, HR is freed from the role of “report provider” and instead gains time and space to act as a true sparring partner.

Instead of presenting numbers, HR can ask the important questions:

  • What do the numbers reveal about your team?
  • Where can we intervene together?
  • What do you want to improve or strengthen?

Practical Example

A medium-sized Danish company implemented a simple HR dashboard focused on absence, headcount, and performance reviews. Within a short time, managers started monitoring the data themselves – and using it in team meetings.

HR was invited into the dialogue – not to present data, but to develop solutions together. The results were:

  • Early intervention for rising absence
  • Improved onboarding and retention
  • Closer collaboration between HR and leadership

“The data greatly improved our sparring. And that’s where we create real value – together.”

3 Tips for Data-Driven HR

  1. Choose a few key metrics: Make them relevant to managers’ daily work and present them visually.
  2. Build shared understanding: Take time to explain what the data shows and how it can be applied.
  3. Use data to start dialogue: Numbers only create value when they are actively used in collaboration.

Data + Dialogue = Results
